Barcelona e-bikerent was started at the beginning of 2011, sparked by Michela and Alessandro’s ambition to shake up the concept of bike tourism in Barcelona. When we opened our shop in the beautiful area of El Borne in May 2011, we were the first in Barcelona to offer electric bikes for rent on the market. A year later we moved to the Gothic Quarter where we are currently based, choosing a new shop that’s very easy to reach from the key points of the city center. The new shop is bigger too, to welcome a bigger fleet, because we added a group of city, trekking and mountain bikes to our selection of e-bikes. Today we are an efficient and structured company with a fleet of more than 120 bikes, an in-house workshop, four employees and a lot of collaborators.
One of our stronger points is the human factor: we give very special attention to our clients daily, and that’s why we have been awarded with the Trip Advisor Certificate of Excellence since 2013 and are in the highest ranking of bikes and tour activities in Barcelona. We are proud of our growth and we are confident in maintaining our reputation as a reliable shop for bike rentals, private/custom e-bike tours and corporate or leisure group activities. Those living in Barcelona can count on us for our bike repair workshop too. We can fix and tune-up any kind of bike on competitive prices. We also have a facility for long term parking. We also have an interesting stock of second hand bikes on sale.
ALESSANDRO - CO-FOUNDER
Alessandro studied in Belgium and Italy, where he learned a degree in biology in his home town Milan. He worked as a Researcher for the University and for private biotech companies. Always interested in renewable energies and sustainable behavior, in 2011 he moved to Barcelona to make his dream come true: build a company with sustainable mobility as its core business.
MICHELA - CO-FOUNDER
Michela was born in 1978 in a small town near Parma, Italy. Her strong need to discover the world led her to live in the UK and in France, and after getting her Agronomy degree, in California. Michela managed to combine her passion for discovering new things with her work experience in the field of tourism. In Barcelona she found the right place to fully express her capacities by becoming the managing director of Barcelona e-bikerent. She’s the reference for tours and group activities, but you can still see her as a guide, since she’s very fond of transmitting her love for Barcelona.
TORSTEN - MECHANIC
Torsten is the diamond of our bike repair shop. He repairs bikes as fast and precisely like only a German can do. An original Berliner - Torsten has worked in the famous Pedalum Mobile bike shop in Berlin. He has also worked as a mechanic at Tour de France!
It’s a pleasure to see Torsten arriving to the shop in the morning riding his flaming Specialized. Something curious about him? He’s also an archeologist and a tango teacher.
